Coding Bootcamps in Austin

Austin Coding Academy offers bootcamp students a “flipped classroom,” emphasizing study outside of the classroom and using class time to build projects and receive feedback. The bootcamp also focuses on tutoring and small group sessions, and uses an e-textbook for continued instruction. The curriculum includes four weeks of career coaching in which students work on resume building, interview skills, and strengthening their online presence.

Austin Community College’s bootcamp lasts 24 weeks and teaches participants HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and JQuery. Students also prepare to achieve JavaScript certification at the end of the program. The bootcamp is suitable for beginners — no previous coding experience is necessary to apply. Bootcamp sessions take place in the evenings and on weekends to give working students additional flexibility.

Flatiron School’s 15-week full-stack web development bootcamp includes five modules that prepare students for coding careers through labs, coursework, and peer collaboration. Students start with programming fundamentals and then work their way through web frameworks, JavaScript, and more.

Flatiron School partners with the coworking company WeWork to provide even more opportunities for students to connect with local business leaders and innovators. Graduates of the Austin program have gone on to work for companies like IBM and XO Group. According to Flatiron School’s 2020 Jobs Report, 86% of software engineering graduates (across all Flatiron School locations) secured a job after graduation.

Galvanize’s Python-based data science bootcamp lasts 13 weeks, and covers topics such as statistics fundamentals, machine learning, and data visualization. The software engineering program — offered through Hack Reactor, a provider acquired by Galvanize in 2018 — teaches students full-stack JavaScript.

Galvanize offers multiple payment options, including an income share agreement. After an initial $2,000 deposit payment, students owe no tuition for the program until they have secured post-graduate employment with an annual salary of $60,000 or more.

According to data verified by the Council on Integrity in Results Reporting, two-thirds of the graduates from its 2019 Austin data science bootcamp obtained employment within 180 days of completing the bootcamp, and these professionals reported a median salary of $105,000. Additionally, about 81% of the 2019 Austin software engineering program graduates secured employment within six months of graduating, earning a median annual salary of $84,240.

General Assembly offers full-time and part-time bootcamps in a variety of technical disciplines. As the largest bootcamp in the industry, General Assembly has thousands of hiring partners and alumni across the globe. The bootcamp helps students prepare a professional portfolio of work to aid in their job search, and matches students with a personal coach to create a career plan.

Inventive Academy’s full-stack engineering curriculum is taught by industry professionals and prepares graduates to work with databases, web servers, and cloud concepts. Students learn a variety of languages, including PHP, C#, and JavaScript.

UT Austin offers multiple coding bootcamps in partnership with Trilogy Education Services, all of which can be taken on a part-time basis. Upon finishing a bootcamp, students receive a certificate of completion from UT Austin.

The school’s web development bootcamp teaches full-stack programming, including instruction in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Students also take part in the program’s Project Demo Day — a networking opportunity that brings in local companies and professionals.
