Alonso Reyna Rivarola

Alonso Rivarola is the interim admissions director and adjunct faculty in ethnic studies at Salt Lake Community College. Originally from Lima, Peru, Alonso migrated to Utah when he was 11. His experiences growing up undocuqueer in Utah have shaped his perspectives. They also inform his passion for supporting and serving historically marginalized communities while holding social institutions accountable.
Alonso graduated from the University of Utah with an Honors BS in sociology and an M.Ed. in educational leadership and policy with an emphasis in higher education administration. Alonso likes to garden, spend time with his cats, and conduct research during his free time.
